We all admire the architectural feat of New York City - the skyscrapers. This motif is nothing new, but what I do particularly like about this picture are the geometrical lines of the building.
I cannot comment any further which option would be better: having the picture in colour or in black and white. But I can easily say that the latter option works very neatly Something that could lift the picture up a bit more is if you only keep the buildings black and white but maintain a coloured sky or vice versa, so to add further dimension or highlight a particular aspect of the photograph.
All in all, it is a decent piece of work, and I will happily look through more of your work!
Skyscrapers are one of those structures that photographers seem to be drawn too. Maybe its that they are larger than life, or the way the lines shape them. Regardless there are many photos of skyscrapers.
I do feel this is not per se an original concept, and I do not see the vision that was had. However I really feel you nailed the technical aspect by controlling distortion. There is a slight bow to the right on the tallest tower but its not falling in or out of the frame. That right there is very impressive in that it was shot at 18mm but still manages to keep distortion down.
The other point is impact. I find this image works very well as a black and white, and I find the contrast of the image works well to define all the shapes of the building. I really like that there is not shadow of other buildings covering them and that you can still see you cloud cover and did not blow out your sky.
